The Insurance Licensing Process:
A Step-By-Step Guide
Step 1: Register for Course I
Refer to our Course Calendar on the left side of this page. You may register by calling one of our Customer Service Representatives at 456-1785 in the Greater New Orleans Area or Toll Free at 1-800-257-2741 for any one of our classes in Metairie.
Step 2: Submit Your License Application to Thomson Prometric
We give you the License Application in Class and share with you how to fill it out, where to send it, and when it is due. You may apply for the licensing test when you start class but may not take the test until you provide proof of your 32 Hour Course.
Step 3: Call Thomson Prometric 4 Days after Your Application is Submitted to Schedule your exam
You cannot request an exam date until Thomson has received your application and approved you as a candidate to take the exam. This usually takes 4-8 Days.
Step 4: Attend the License Exam Prep Course (optional)
Your chances of passing the test increase dramatically by taking this course. Students that follow our complete "Donaldson System" which includes attending the License Exam Prep Course have a better than 91% chance of passing the first time.
Step 5: When you pass the test, your license is normally issued within 1 week
When you pass the examination (we know you will!), you have completed the process. Experior will electronically submit your passing information to the Louisiana Department of Insurance and your license will be issued usually within 1 week.
